Executive Addresses the 2004 DigiPak Convention
Optimizing
Time-to-Market and Adopting Digital Workflows
(Stamford, CT – November
2004) – James A. Carson,
Vice President of Product & Operations for Design2Launch,
Inc. USA, recently spoke at the 2004 DigiPak Convention,
giving a detailed discussion focused on the economic
and competitive benefits that can be captured by adopting
a digital workflow for package design.
Specifically, Mr.
Carson discussed how Design2Launch has developed advanced
2D and 3D visualization technology that incorporates
a full suite of collaboration, approval and asset
management tools to cut package development time and
expense by more than half.
“Design2Launch
delivers tools for color accurate results in both
primary and secondary packaging and that marry 2D
and 3D images to create accurate product visualization
early in the design process,” said Mr. Carson.
He added that the Design2Launch productization process
takes in information from package design CAD systems
such as Artios CAD, Solid Works and others, along
with 2D decals from Adobe, Quark, etc. and allows
the selection of materials, colors, and settings.
“By providing
for the accurate combination of these multiple factors,
Design2Launch creates decision quality digital output
that can then be routed for review, markup and approval,”
said Mr. Carson. During the productization process,
Design2 Launch captures material selection, color,
decal placement and other information that is incorporated
in a Bill of Materials to be passed forward to a project
and production management process once package design
is complete.
According to Mr. Carson,
“Design2Launch provides a communications channel
that brings together the array of constituencies and
information required to bring a new product design
to market.”
